| We are at the dawn of the 21st century. A century, which has already witnessed many key events. Events, which are affecting our lives in a manner that we might not even, be aware of . One such occurrence was the American war on terror. A striking feature of the war was America’s technological superiority or to be more precise its superiority or puissance in the field of Digital Signal Processing (DSP). |

| The impact of DSP could be observed on various fronts ranging from satellite imagery to control of sophisticated missiles. The impact of DSP is not circumscribed only to the military but is visible even in automobiles, audio processing, security systems, etc. In fact the impact has been on a gargantuan scale. |

| My fascination with DSP began in the 2nd year of my undergraduate study when my Professor showed me the project he worked on during his college days. The objective of the project was to synthesize speech using a DSP chip SPO256-AL2 and the programming was in BASIC. Though a simple project, it seemed to my friends and me as something out of a sci-fi movie. Hence we decided to modify the project under the guidance of our Professor. We intended to and successfully did modify the project using a TMS320C50 chip and C programming. |

| The project helped me gain valuable experience and understanding about the field of DSP. In order to bolster my knowledge of the fundamentals and have a clairvoyant understanding of the field, I undertook a course on DSP conducted by Anna University. I am also a student member of IEEE which has aided me in performing valuable research. |

| My Under-Graduate study in xxxx College (Affiliated to the xxxx) exposed me to a course pattern which not only aided me in strengthening my fundamentals but also introduced me to promising fields such as DSP , Optical Communication , Biomedical Instrumentation etc. . My avid interest resulted in me securing a gold medal during my 3rd semester and also being ranked among the top 5% of my department. |

| For my Final year project, I have been granted permission to work on an in-house project in xxxx. It is my firm belief that one ought to give equal weight to both his cognizant as well as his physical skills. I enjoy acting on stage and have also conducted three cultural events during the past 3 years. Apart from acting, I enjoy playing cricket and have represented my college during various College level cricket tournaments. |
