“Education is more than filling a child with facts, it starts with posing questions” being an advocate of this philosophy, my mother always encouraged me to question myself while learning, and made me find answers by referring related subject books. My mother imparted the practice of reading into me without my knowledge. As, I grew older; the habit of reading books widened my horizon and my inclination to questioning, developed an inherent affinity towards in–depth knowledge. I realized that science is the only tool in the hands of man that can unveil the mystery behind the nature. Man has always been using this tool to delve into greater depths and to learn more things that have amazed him. This has lead to tremendous advancements in the field of science and technology, which have made life easier and the world a better place to live in. As a result, a strong conviction to apply the knowledge acquired for the advancement of human race grew in me. Initially, I wasn’t really focused on any particular field of science, but I was resolved to choose a field whose impact should be felt by a common man. The twentieth century marvel, computers have become an ever-present force in human affairs. The ubiquitous microprocessor and the evolving combination of computers, telecommunications and large databases are changing the complexion of life, not only, in industrialized societies but also in developing nations like xxxx.

Industrial revolution failed to live up to the promises it made to the ordinary people of xxx, but the information revolution following it, transformed the life of the people in xxx. My mind slowly began to concentrate in the field of computer science. After my higher Secondary, I didn’t take much time to choose computer science and engineering as my career path.

While I started reading my subjects, such as data structures, operating systems, DBMS in my under graduation, I found a striking resemblance between the concepts of my subjects and strategies a common man applies for optimizing his work. For instance, the concepts such as time-sharing, concurrency, interrupt handling, semaphores are advertently or inadvertently derived from the day-to-day activities of humans. As a result, learning of computer science subjects has never been something abstract or abstruse for me rather, it became very pleasurable. The diversity of books, which I have read right from my childhood, helped me to obtain a great insight into my subjects and augmented my quest for research and knowledge more severely. So, in order to feed my hunger for Knowledge, I decided to streamline my career by doing some quality research in Computer science. As Poyla said “We learn the most when we have to invent”, I seriously searched for the place, which would provide me such opportunities.

After long reflection and series of discussions, I found out pursuing M.S in U.S would be an ideal choice in realizing my career aspirations. American Universities have always been a place for discovery, invention and original ideas. I believe that your institution will surely provide an ambience that nurtures my creative mind and ensures ample situation for my gray cells. As I decided to pursue my masters in US in my early days of my UG, I started assimilating the concepts of Data structures, OOPS, Computer Architecture, DBMS, Operating system and Programming concepts, which laid a good foundation for my Graduation.

I have collected through your brochure and department website, that, department of computer science has a lot of research activities, having been tuned in terms of active participation in research, I am confident that I will be able to contribute fruitfully in association with your eminent faculty. I am sure that your University would serve as a suitable launch pad for my success. I therefore eagerly look forward with great pleasure to pursuing my graduate studies in computer science and engineering at your esteemed institution.
