| PRE APPLYING is the first step of the applying procedure. PRE APPLYING involves getting paper application forms from Universities of your choice. Once you have decided on a set of prospective Universities, collect information such as the Grad Sec's E-mail ID , the Dept's general queries E-mail ID, and other such ID's which will be useful in the Administrative Process. Most Universities will send you a Paper Application form on sending a Request letter to the appropriate EMail ID . Some Universities, however require you to fill in an online request for an application form. |

| When to start Pre-Applying? |

| If you plan to join in Fall (Aug/ Sep), which is usually the case, start requesting forms in the Sep/Oct of the earlier year. As the application package takes minimum of one month to reach you, it is advisable to do that early. |

| Get a list of Universities to which you might wish to apply . If you are unable to pick the selection list of which universities you would like to apply to,better obtain as many application forms as needed.Prepare a brief Resume and append it to the Pre-application requisition letter |

| Create a separate EMAIL ID for your entire application process . Use this ID for applying and following up process alone, which will prevent other miscellaneous mails from getting mixed up with important ones. |

| Keep tabs on the Universities, whether they respond to your request. If they don’t after some time, re-send the request. |

| Important things to be included in the Pre-application |

| Type of Student Application Mention the type of University application you are requesting for, Whether its for graduate studies or under-graduate study, for Business or engineering school, paper-based or Online link etc. What Most Universities nowa-days do is that they send you a reply saying that they have a website which has the Online application form and you can apply through that . But if you Insisit on a paper application form, then they might send you that. Basically, if you want a paper application, mention that you do not have enough access to the web and need a paper based application form. Paper-Based application usaually comes with university brouchure and other stuffs, which may help you make a decision on the university. |
